Student #6 Testimonial - "I Just Drink Tea" (English)
Student: "Uh, I don't buy it. I try not to buy anything over ten dollars when I go out. Like I don't--I try not to go over ten dollars. The high is fifteen, when I get shopping, for food. So, most things I buy are ninety-nine cents or one ninety-nine. Sometimes I'll go wild and I'll get something that's five dollars. I spend more on coffee and tea than I spend on anything."
Interviewer: "Do you ever go to bed hungry?"

Student: "Yeah, once or twice. Yeah. Yeah, because I'll make something, like some beans, but there won't be enough."

Interviewer: "Are you ever hungry in class?"
​
Student: "Yes."
Interviewer: "Yeah?"
​
Student: "And then after class I'm in a bad mood, so I have to go home. It's not supposed to be, like. . .
If I eat breakfast --"

Interviewer: "Uh huh."
​
Student: "Which I'm finding more breakfast: I make eggs and tortillas mixed together; *Tcch tcch tcch tcch*, eat that. I don't eat lunch, I just drink tea and tea, tea, tea, tea, tea. And then at night, I might make--if I eat, maybe I'll make some beans. Put some broccoli in there. Vegetables. Or maybe plantains, cause they're cheap. One sixty-nine each. Mm, but if I don't eat something that's just, like, dinner, you know; I'll just eat it, like that, just dink.
Put some chili powder to make them taste a little better, and salt, and then put spices when I make all my beans, I put all types of spices: Oregano, cilantro, onion, you know? Onion powder, heh. But, still. Sometimes I'll make plantains for dinner. I should make rice; I'm gonna make rice tonight. But, uh, it takes a long time to cook rice. Beans are like, (snaps fingers) fast."

Interviewer: "Do you ever buy food at PCC?"
​
Student: "No. Maybe a tea; I'll get a tea there. Sure, uh, I'll spend five bucks on a tea. Well, no. I'll spend four dollars on a tea. Four seventy-five? Four seventy-five on a tea, sure."

Interviewer: "Can you just tell me about, like, your living situation?"
​
Student: "You know, I live with my roommates in--we live in a house, um, in an undisclosed location in Northeast. And I live with them. I have a room, thank goodness. It's not so bad."
Estudiante #6 Testimonial - "Tomo Té" (Traducción en Español)
Estudiante: "Trato de no comprar nada que cueste más de 10 dólares. Lo más caro sería $15 cuando voy a comprar comida. La mayoría de las cosas que compro cuestan 99 centavos o $1.99. Algunas veces me enloquezco, y me compro algo que cuesta 5 dólares. Gasto más en café y té que en comida."

Estudiante: "Sí, y después de clase tengo que regresar a casa porque estoy de mal humor. Y si no regreso a casa estoy como....
Si hago el desayuno, y estoy tratando a comer desayuno, cocino huevos y tortillas juntos así. No como el almuerzo, solo tomo té, té, té, y té.Y en la noche , tal vez, si yo como hago algo con los frijoles con brócoli para los vegetales. O tal vez plátanos porque son baratos. $1.69.

Estudiante: "Sí, es que yo vivo con mis compañeros de cuarto en un ubicación en NE. Pero sí... tengo un cuarto, gracias a dios. No es tan malo."
